How did I get behind?

For weeks, nay, months, I have been ahead on all the projects, grading, and school assignements...

What happen?

I'm sick and tired for a few days and WAHM...now I'm behind and treading water HARD to get back ahead again.

Sigh.

Plus I have to keep convincing myself that I MUST complete all school crap before I can have fun and do sewing crap.

But I don't wanna!

Look at all these projects I want to try soon; I just need a few more hours in the day!

I still need to finish some diapers before baby.
And I want to whip up a new-born hat from a T-shirt for baby.
And I want to finish a big brother T-shirt for Tam prior to the birth, maybe something with T-rex on it since he's starting to get into dinosaurs.
And another dress for Ciearra is on the thought-wagon with fabric waiting
Oh, and then I saw these adorable cloth bunnies to do up for Easter that are just too cute...




Sigh...maybe this coming weekend...after grading and test writing...

Dresses and cold

I'm sick...again. I now totally believe in the tale that a pregnant woman's immune system is suppressed because she has a parasite growing in her. I've got a nasty cold, again. Most of the last week or so has been snot-tacular. Eh, I can deal with that. Then three days ago, my throat felt like I swallowed a burning tennis ball and I'm coughing up elephants. Brian even jokingly said I'm infecting him while he's sleeping because I'm sleep-coughing on him. Yuck. Finally, called the nurse and she did okay robitussin to help. Otherwise, I seem to be living on crush ice. Here's to keeping my fingers crossed to getting better quickly.

In other news, my sister sent me the style numbers for her choice of bridesmaid dresses. So this morning, Tam, Brian, I (and baby) trucked it on over to David's Bridal to check them out and give her some feedback. This was hilarious. Pregnant lady with huge boobies trying on dresses. At least at David's they have larger sizes to accommodate. Tam was happy that there were a couple of other young kids there and they all just kept jumping around the platforms in front of the mirrors.

In the end, we did like one of the styles and had them write the info down. We'll be back in June / July to order after I've lost the bump, gained the milk boobs, and gotten back to something closer to my normal size. I do have to laugh knowing that I'll pay as much for the underwire bra support as I will for the dress! Nope, no pictures...we didn't need any scary evidence for future black-mail.

Guilty pleasures

Tam is old enough now to realize that adults sometimes have really good stuff and that he should ask if they'll share with him. Usually, if he asks nicely with the use of please, we'll share with him.

Examples:
Brian or I eating our morning cereal and Tam has finished his. Tam comes over and says "Share, mama?" or "Share, please?"

Brian comes home from work with a bottle of ice tea or root beer soda. Tam sees the iconic bottle. "Daddy's juice. Share?", "Mine?", "Please?"

I grab a piece of chocolate from our candy dish and Tam notices I'm eating something and he isn't. "Mama, share?", "chocolate?", "Mine?"

I'm all for sharing...but at the same time, I'm all for a taking some guilty pleasures out of Tam's sight-line. I totally have waited until Tam's gone to bed before busting out some chocolate to eat, just so I don't have to share :-)

The other night, sweet Brian made some cinnamon rolls. I had every intention to only eat one and save the rest for breakfast...but that didn't happen. Instead Brian and I indulged in ALL of them that night. Poor Tam, none for him. Yep, I felt a little guilt for this, but what Tam doesn't know won't hurt him, eh? When he gets older, we'll share :-)

This got me thinking if MY parents also did this, this making of sweets in the night and not leaving any to share with us kids in the morning? hmmm...

(I've also convinced him that caramel candies are yucky and are only for mommas)

Thursday check in...

I've hit 31.5 weeks :-) The check up this week went quick and well. I'm doing great with great blood pressure this time around. This is great...but also means that we won't need the extra testing like the extra ultrasounds to check size or the non-stress tests. Because of this, kiddo is a bit more of an abstract entity than Tam was (cause we were peaking at him monthly).

But, I know he's in there squirming around still....often in the morning, mid-afternoon, and evening freak-out time (midnight to 1am). Most of the time it feels as if he is head-down because I'm feeling hiccups in my pelvis....but sometimes it seems he's flipped and jumping on my bladder. Tam's felt him moving around too, but just seems to think it is momma poking him randomly while he's in my lap. He does point to my belly and go "baby" which is so cute.

I'm still feeling pretty well, except I'm starting to slow down...both in just walking down the hall and wanting to go to bed early each night. I haven't thought too much about labor yet, but it does seem as if it is nearly here!

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
