Soda and water retention

So, once again, my feet are and ankles are huge. I am totally blaming it on the fact that I've been drinking more pop this week than water. It's Brian's fault since he bought several packs of pop at the store this week because it was on sale. Oh that orange soda and ginger-ale tasted so good! Maybe I can get maintenance to install a water fountain right in my office to help encourage me to drink more H2O.
And I also have not yet devised a way to put my feet up while sitting at my desk at work. What I need is a recliner in the office, or better yet, a secretary that I can dictate all my notes to be typed to and I can lounge and relax. If it was a perfect world...
I took this picture to help me feel better about my feet...they look so small and far away compared to my extended belly :-)
On another random note, my belly-button itches. Way itches...and then I'm in that predicament where I don't want to touch it, but the itch is driving me crazy. I think if I close my eyes and I can totally feel my belly getting bigger and my belly-button stretching out.

Waiting for the stork

Oh...No....!

If you were in the Palin Clan...

A colleague of mine sent this link to me the other day...what a hoot! Check this link out:
Palin Name Generator

I was fully amused for about 20minutes typing in all different family members to see what their "Palin" name might be. For those of you who are curious:
I'm now Mole Valdez,
Brian is Chalk Revelations,
And our little guy is Hen Waffles.
Please now refer to us by our Palin monikers :-)

students, baby, and potential

So here I sit watching my students take their first exam for the course from me. It is is interesting how looking out at the 45 of them is kind of like thinking about our little baby. All these students have the potential still to apply themselves and reach their biology goals, whether that is medical school or research or teaching. I know while looking at them that not everyone will succeed, not everyone has the drive, not everyone has the knowledge to eventually accomplish their first dreams. And I know that this exam might dissuade a handful of them from biology for good!
Our little one is similar to this...Currently he is ALL potential. What will he be like? How will his personality develop? Will he be interested in science? Will we be able try help him pursue his dreams? Will he have the drive? I know that Brian and I are hoping for the best!

Feeling huge at 31 weeks

So I think my belly is finally larger than my chest. I feel as if all the weight that I've gained with this pregnancy has been in these two areas...and my feet a little...since I currently only fit into my sneakers (Thank God for converse all stars!) Here are a couple of latest pics of me in all of my baby glow :-) Can you believe I've got alittle 4-lb baby in there?!
