Nursery photos

Just a couple of snapshots from our nursery. It seems as if it is nearly done, with just a few touches left until completion. I think we'll be ready for our little one's arrival...even if it might be a little earlier than expected :-)

The pirate ship is a toy chest for when our guy gets a bit bigger. I had originally wanted an orange rug to compliment the orange accents...but the budget dictated this one instead.
The built-in book shelf was converted into a changing station. We are still hoping to go cloth diapers...we'll see how long we last!
Here on this wall we hung the quilt that Brian's mom made for our little guy. It matches the color scheme perfectly and features nut-brown hares. The shelf underneath should work well for quick storage of books and toys.

Dr. appt. a-okay!

Our appointment yestaurday went well. The ol' blood pressure is back on the higher side, unless I'm lying down on my left side. I'll continue to monitor it at home. Talk to the doctor about preparing for the delivery and about figuring out a birth plan. Baby's heartbeat was great and he's often kicking me when I'm sitting still. I'll check back in with her in another two weeks. At that appointment I'll get my first non-stress test (NST) so that they can keep an eye on the baby and my blood pressure. Pretty much, I get to lie there for 30 minutes strapped to a machine that measures fetal movement, heartbeat, and my blood pressure. Sounds like loads of fun...I'll bring some tests to grade :-) NSTs are done at least weekly for those mom's with higher blood pressure, just to keep tabs on it incase it starts to become preclampsia. Otherwise, I'm doing much better and most of my snot has finally dried up!

Ok... Even in my cold misery, I'm really craving those disgusting peeps...& I think this photo is hilarious!

I've got a cold :-(

I've done so well so far with staving off any illnesses during this fun-fun time. But I wake up this morning with a scratchy through and hacking up gobs of green gook. I'm pretty sure it is just a common cold, but if it lasts, I'll talk to my ob this Friday. I'm totally blaming this misery on the first year students I teach with their weird germs and sticky hands. Luckily, I can call in sick tomorrow...I think I'm going to curl up in bed with some juice and water and several episodes of "My name is Earl" on the t.v. Which, by the way, is one of the funniest shows I've seen in eons and I highly reccomend it for anyone who wants a good clean laugh without the real-life drama or voting talent show nonsense. :-)

Bladder's not a punching bag

Hmmm....how do I tell our little one that my bladder is NOT a toy! The little pokes a prods are great until - WHAM - I get one in the bladder. I just want to tell him to go and play in my rib cage or something for a change. :-)
