Back in my home town!

I am so glad that we only live 6ish hours from my parents and not 17 hours (like we were in Minnesota). We loaded up our little Chevy cavalier, grabbed our diabetic cat, and headed east to Ohio yesterday. The cat did pretty well in the car. We always joke that the fuzzball is a die-hard conservative republican because he hates change! He wandered around the inside of the car for about an hour, meowed a bit, and settled back into his carrier for the remainder of the trip. Sheesh...no sense of adventure! I made the trip fine, and Brian, as usual, fell asleep. The ol' feet got stiff from holding the gas pedal down...our swear our next car will have cruise control!

'Bula seems just about the same. And it is always delightful to be back visiting the parents and sleeping back in my own room :-) We have a busy week ahead with the Baby-shower tomorrow and helping my dad clean his house during the week. Hope to catch sight of some of our friends around here as well :-) (HINT)

Baby Bump

Okay, I give in...here's my latest bump photo. It seems as if I have "popped" overnight and it is hard to believe that all that isn't my belly but baby :-) He's squirming a ton, and I'm feeling his movements daily. Now it is stating to feel as if someone is popping popcorn in there in the evenings. And I'm starting to have odd growing-feeling days. These are when I think I feel my uterus going through a growth spurt and it's stretching out, which is a rather odd feeling. On a side note, the baby can now hear quite a bit in there so we are trying to play more music for it...I'm really hoping to develop another Rush fan in the house. Can't wait for this little guy to make his arrival :-)

Nursery Notes...

While I'm on a roll with improving the house...We've begun painting and getting the nursery ready for our little guy's arrival. After much debate about color, and then about shades of the colors, we decided to go with a sky blue and a grassy green. We then thought to have accents in orange. I think it will look very happy, and a little Dr. Seuss :-) I love the shades of blue and green that we choose because they aren't too baby pastel, but they aren't too uber-bright either. The chair-rail and trim will be the same cream/white that has been used through the entire house. Brian wanted to try something different, but since I am often the one with the patience to paint the trim, I opted for a neutral color that I don't have to repaint for resale. Some of the trim on the doors, the curtains, the rug, and the backs of the book cases will be painted orange for fun. I don't know if we'll get it done before we head home this weekend, but we are trying! After all of this, I definitely feel like a guru of painting...you can call me Mistress of Valspar Paint :-)

Kitchen work ...done?!

I am officially calling our work on the kitchen done (mostly)! Our lovely black granite countertops are in and the sink is installed and working. Brian also put up the new sleek light fixtures (courtesy of mom) and it looks awesome. He is so eager to start cooking in there again...after 3 months of doing without! I think the biggest kick he's getting is that we have so much more drawer/storage space now.
Now if only we had the money to make the rest of our house looks so nice...

Wow...looking back at the old kitchen really puts all of our hard work into prospective. And I definitely learned that they make these projects look WAY EASIER on HGtv!

Papaya!

New fruit!
Oh, my little Papaya :-) I think when he's kicking me it is more like a monkey than a fruit! Our next baby check is in two weeks and we'll have a better idea how big he's getting.

Me and my big feet

I've already said good-bye to my waist last month...now it seems it is time to say good-bye to my ankles as well. My feet are freakin' huge! I've been a comfortable size 7 chuck for eons, and now it seems I can only tolerate them uber-unlaced. Sheesh. I wonder what "fun and exciting" body changes will come next week :-)
