Jude's 15 month check up.

This week has been chaotic because of many activities: painting, cleaning, starting school.  Because of this, I completely forgot about Jude's 15 month check-up that was on Monday.  Complete forgot in that it randomly occurred to me that we missed at that night while I was giving the boys their baths.

I apologetically called the office on Tuesday morning only to learn that they are so booked that it wouldn't be until November until we could get him in, which would be his 18month check up.  I then learned that he still needed several shots and that they would do that on the fly if we stopped into the office that morning.  So, I headed to work and Brian took the boys to the pediatrician's office.

Luckily, when they got there our doctor had a free moment and went ahead and gave Jude his check-up anyways :-)  Brian told me that the boys did really well and that Tam was very inquisitive about all the things the doctor was doing to little Jude.  (And in the end, Tam told him he loved him).  Jude was a happy camper for the entire trip...up until the shots.  The little mite got 3 needles and a nasal mist spurt.  I heard that Tam held Jude's hand to help him through this horrible experience.

 I came home later to see that Jude had recovered and was sporting a pair of bright orange band-aids on his thighs.

As to Jude's stats?  Is he growing?  Is he healthy?
Oh, yeah.  We are very blessed with a pretty healthy family and Jude is fine.  He has a bit of extra earwax in his ears but otherwise he is growing along at a good rate.

Height: 31.5 inches
Weight: 22 lbs and 8 ounces

This places Jude in the 50th percentile for both.  In case your wondering, and I was, Tamlin was a few ounces heavier and an inch taller at this age. 

He's a growing little boy ;-)

Sunday Pancakes

Brian and Tamlin make pancakes for everyone for a mid-morning brunch. 

Some weeks we get buckwheat pancakes...and other weeks we have wheat pancakes.


Sometimes the chefs add in apples or bacon or chocolate chips or even the favored...

Wordless Wednesday - Jude Walking!

Here's my boys!  Jude is 15 months old and Tamlin is nearly 4 years old.

Just before school starts...

I decided to paint the bedroom.

I think that totally deep clean the downstairs is a good idea.

Jude decides to really take off walking on his own... And try to master crawling over the baby gate. He succeeds.

My body reacts badly to something, giving me a horribly itchy rash for two days, which led to lack of sleep and general crankiness.

Tam thinks that having all of his cars out all the time is the best way to play with them. The rest of us do NOT.

Brian decides to put up crown molding in the bedroom since we are painting it anyway. (He hasn't done this before)

We finally get around to fixing the front screen door that has been broke since last fall.

Oh... And I tried to squeeze in sewing a fall dress coat for Tam... Which isn't done yet due to the bedroom furniture now in front of my machine until the bedroom is done.

Sigh. A bit ambitious for us...

Wordless Wednesday - Cars

Tam both loves and hates that Jude is finally big enough to play with him and all the cars.

My little Jude

Jude is now 15 months old!
Where has the time gone?  I distinctly remember holding him in my arms for the first time and now he's so big!

What has been Jude been up to lately?
Everything.
He really is my little thinker and monkey.  It seems that he is always exploring the immediate world around him for all the cool stuff.  Or he is thinking about how to get what he wants, even if it is out of reach. I'm just surprised he hasn't figured out how to climb out of his crib...yet.  (He has figured out that he can strain to reach the door, slam it repeatedly into the wall, and watch us come running to stop him.  I have noticed this week he is really eyeballing doorknobs on closed doors.  He just barely reaches them with his outstretched arms, but I think he might have them figured out much sooner than his big brother did.  Good thing we lock the outside doors regularly.

Currently, Jude is really into things that do stuff...like, spin or pop or turn or make noise or whatever. He loves spinning the blades of his airplanes and helicopters or spinning a pinwheel.   Lately, I have been trying to show him how to turn on his glow worm doll by pushing its belly.  To do this, I would pull his finger over to the doll and push.  However, this technique has backfired. Now, Jude grabs MY finger, pulls it over, and uses MY finger to push on the doll!  It is so funny and cute.

As to walking, Jude is still wanting to hold a hand or push something along in front of him, though he will go off on his own for a few steps if it is toward Brian or me.  Tam has been helping Jude walk a lot around the house by volunteering to hold his hand...though it took him a bit of learning to slow down and not take Jude for a drag.  Along with walking, Jude still LOVES the stairs (as did Tam at this age).  Just this past week, Jude figured out how to go down the stairs, backward.  Oh man, the squeals of delight he issued were so heartwarming.  This is a huge accomplishment!  Before, Jude would get up on something, chair, box, step, and get stuck because he couldn't get back down and off the device.  This led to wailing until someone came to help...now he can get up and down all by himself.  Wonderful!

Eating is still one of Jude's favorite pastimes...surprisingly, he really enjoys veggies over all else, especially broccoli! He is really trying to use a spork with most meals, even getting some of the food from the bowl into his mouth.  We still are serving him lots of soft food because he only has TWO teeth...but lots of teething moments.

Sleeping for Jude has become less of a struggle in our house in the past few months.  Jude is regularly sleeping through the night from about 6:30 to 6:30.  He sleeps best snuggled with his monster doll, gently fingering the silky ribbons on it.  He usually has a binky in his mouth and more often than not, sleeps on his back.  If he does wake, often times it is because he has lost his binky and can't find it in the crib.  Though, a few times we still get early waking around 4 (yuck) and he ends up in our bed as we try to get a couple more hours of sleep.  Tam sleeps in his bed across from Jude, going to sleep about an hour after him.  This only backfires if Jude wakes Tam up and they start "playing" with each other instead of sleeping.  (I don't care too much, as long as they are both still happy).

Talking?  Do we have talking yet?  Like his brother, Jude is a babbler when he's happy.  He is really good at saying Bye and waving at people.  We sometimes get "Hi".  We are now getting Daddy and mamamamama that is usually directed at the correct parental unit.  However, unlike Tam, Jude does have a bit of a shy / flirting streak.  When meeting a new female, Jude will give her a shy smile or hide his head in my shoulder before smiling at her.  The little flirt :-)

Anything else?  Jude can be stubborn for sure.  He is really good at letting us know when he is displeased with something (very vocal).  With his fair coloring, when he cries, his whole face turns bright red and blotchy.  Oh, and the tears....he is very good at generating crocodile tears when he thinks it will help his protesting case. Good thing we love him in the happy times and sad times.

Oh, I just love holding him and kissing the top of his head.
I love his baby warmth and smell.

And I love that he has figured out hugs and LOVES to give clinging ones to us.
Kisses are becoming more common too...big, open mouth, drooly kisses :-)
