Wordless Wednesday - Jude 11 1/2 months

Especially while I'm writing / grading tests this pre-finals week...

I heart the botany humor...

Now I must go watch Star Wars one more time!

 

Wordless Wednesday - Backyard repotting

 Tamlin did a little landscaping in the backyard.  These are all bulb plants / saplings that Tam and Brian planted last week.  Tam rearranged them strategically around.... and then showed them to me when I got home from work.

Lastly he danced some crazy Tamlin-is-awesome jig around them while I snapped photos.

Jude's other new tricks...

 With Jude coming in close to the 1 year mark, it seems he is determined to it  a ton of milestones in these last couple of months: eating, rolling, babbling, cruising!

Even though he still doesn't have any teeth, he is loving solid foods that are soft and easily masticated into submission.  He very happily drinks 3 bottles and eats 4 meals a day.  Usually dinner is the messiest since I tend to just pile food on the high-chair tray and let him have at it.  Jude likes to hold a spoon, even if he doesn't quite know how to use it yet.he has liked nearly every new food we've given him...especially Cheerios, rice, mash potatoes = yum, carbohydrates.  He is also using a sippy cup with pretty good success.  He has figured the sippy much easier than a straw cup, but still prefers a bottle right now.  However, he does enjoy banging the cup against the highchair to make noise.

Jude has known how to roll from belly to back for the past month.  However, he wasn't that great at going from back to belly.  He would flip himself to his back, realize he didn't like it, and cry until someone would help him roll back over.  I very much blame the bubble cloth diaper butt for his determent to mobility.  Now in the past two days he has conquered the rotation from back to belly.  This means he can ROLL.  Now he'll crawl or roll to where he wants to go.  And he has now tried to roll himself off the changing table.  Egads!

And babbling...so much babbling :-)  Jude mostly says "bababababa" and "mamamama" and "hahahahah."  Plus lots of raspberries and squeals still.  No word association to objects or people yet, but I love the way his little arms reach out and his eyes light up with smiling when I walk into the room.  We are noticing that Jude loves music and noise.  It still seems as if he tries to sing along with us  when we are singing.  And he loves to bang things together and banging on the keyboard.  In fact, Jude got really upset when the play keyboard was turned off - complete with yell babbling at us until Brian figured out the source of the problem.  He's our little rock star in the making.

The upside is that now with all this moving and babbling, and eating, he is sleeping better too...which means we are getting more nights where he sleeps from 6:30 until 6:30 with minor crying for binky 'round 10pm.
Yes.  Thank God, Yes.
He sleeps all sweetly curled up on his belly, usually clutching the little monster doll I made for him for Christmas.  He also has a book nearby, usually "That's not my truck" - a favorite of both boys.

All in all, we love him to pieces even if he is growing too quickly.

I had no idea...

Jude can go up steps now.  One minute he was next to me as I was sitting on the steps to our front door.  Then, within a blink, he had clamored up them to sit next to me.  He was all grins and squeals at his little accomplishment!
Where did he learn this trick? 
When? 
 Going back down them proved too daunting for our wee man (good).  I informed Brian that the spare baby-gate would be necessary for the stairs now.
Sigh.
He's growing so big so quickly!
