A minor car addiction continues

In our current walks around the block, our progress is extremely slow. This is because Tam stops at every parked car to point, say "Dah" repeatedly, and make motor sounds. I began just telling him if the vehicle was a car, a truck, or a van. Then, I moved on to telling him the colors. He is doing really well at finding red cars, but not so much with any other colors. Since I am getting tired of just saying the colors, I am now telling him the makes of the cars too. I'm trying to guess them based just on the nifty symbols on the grill and I'm getting better. I wasn't sure if Tam was even paying attention to me until early this week.

Tam: "Dah!"

Me: "Yes, Tam, that's a car."

Tam: "Dah!", accompanied with pointing

Me: "Yes, that car is a black car."

Tam: "Dah!"

Me: "hmmm...I think that is a Volvo"

Tam: "Wo-Wo"

Me: "What? Did you just say Volvo?"

Tam: "Wo-Wo!"

Me: "Yah, Tam!"

Now, understand that Tam is making this "wo-wo" sound by hitting is hand against his mouth.

Very silly. And it isn't like we see a ton of Volvos so that I'm repeating this word many times to him.

Sheesh.

Wordless Wednesday - Car addiction continues

Tam still loves cars and trucks.

Finger in the nose

The title says it all...

Tam has figured out for good that his finger goes up his nose. He now tends to do this when he is thinking hard about something else. Sigh. At least he isn't sucking his thumb.

He has also discovered his belly button. Since he is often in a onesie, he can't access the button during the day. But during bath-time, he loves to push in his belly button and laugh like a maniac. Currently his belly button sticks out, and he may just end up as an outie. Sigh.

And his feet have been the source of laughter too. He's figured out how to pull his socks off and check out his toes. More giggles ensue.

Sheesh. No wonder I study plants 'cause the human body is so silly!

Wordless Wednesday - Nectarines

Tam tackles an entire fresh nectarine...

New words?

We have really been trying to get Tam to try more sounds and words to help with communication. However, most things are still referred to as "Dah" in Tam's world.

The latest additions to his vocab are:

1) Nana for my mom, Janet. He says this about 25% of the time when he sees her picture on the wall in his room.

2) Nananana for banana. The "na" sounds may continue for several extra syllables :-) He doesn't use this word unless he hears Brian or me say it first.

3) Mm-mmm. Tam says this while he is eating and he thinks the food is really yummy. His little eyes light up too. Very cute.

Oh, and we had an excellent visit with my mom this past week!
