Dr. appt. a-okay!
Our appointment yestaurday went well. The ol' blood pressure is back on the higher side, unless I'm lying down on my left side. I'll continue to monitor it at home. Talk to the doctor about preparing for the delivery and about figuring out a birth plan. Baby's heartbeat was great and he's often kicking me when I'm sitting still. I'll check back in with her in another two weeks. At that appointment I'll get my first non-stress test (NST) so that they can keep an eye on the baby and my blood pressure. Pretty much, I get to lie there for 30 minutes strapped to a machine that measures fetal movement, heartbeat, and my blood pressure. Sounds like loads of fun...I'll bring some tests to grade :-) NSTs are done at least weekly for those mom's with higher blood pressure, just to keep tabs on it incase it starts to become preclampsia. Otherwise, I'm doing much better and most of my snot has finally dried up!

I've got a cold :-(
I've done so well so far with staving off any illnesses during this fun-fun time. But I wake up this morning with a scratchy through and hacking up gobs of green gook. I'm pretty sure it is just a common cold, but if it lasts, I'll talk to my ob this Friday. I'm totally blaming this misery on the first year students I teach with their weird germs and sticky hands. Luckily, I can call in sick tomorrow...I think I'm going to curl up in bed with some juice and water and several episodes of "My name is Earl" on the t.v. Which, by the way, is one of the funniest shows I've seen in eons and I highly reccomend it for anyone who wants a good clean laugh without the real-life drama or voting talent show nonsense. :-)

Bladder's not a punching bag
Hmmm....how do I tell our little one that my bladder is NOT a toy! The little pokes a prods are great until - WHAM - I get one in the bladder. I just want to tell him to go and play in my rib cage or something for a change. :-)

Belly-button thoughts
Have I ever mentioned my weird and insensible fear that my belly-button will one day come undone and my all of my insides will fall out? I just have this crazy mental picture of standing there and watching all of my intestines and gut fall out through the belly-button hole. Ewwww. Hence, I refuse to have that part of my anatomy touched/examined/poked in any way...for fear of upsetting the belly-button glue holding it all together. Yes, I know this is not a rationale thought and the scientist in me laughs hysterically. Yet, I still think it is perfectly true.
Well...this thought leads me to my now growing abdomen and now stretching belly-button. Just last night, I'm lying there watching TV, feeling the little jabs from inside, and I realize that my belly-button isn't quite as deep as it was in the past. I am desperately praying that the sucker stays intact (nothing falls out) and that it stays pointing inward. Just the thought of it popping out gives me additional heeby-jeebies!

New Fruit = Squash
It's a new month and time for a new fruit! I'm officially settled into the third trimester and in month 7.According to the web, our little guy is growing rapidly now and about 15.5 inches long. I often don't think of him curled up like a squash...especially when he's having a party on my bladder or kicking me squarely in the ribs!
